Sir Michael Atiyah admitted as HonFLSW
On Thursday 21 July, Sir Michael Atiyah was formally admitted by the President as one of the Society’s inaugural Honorary Fellows.
Sir Michael Atiyah is one of the most influential mathematicians of his generation, widely recognised as a pioneer in the development of mathematics in the UK and Europe. A highly distinguished researcher, Sir Michael has been widely honoured for his achievements, including being awarded both the highly prestigious Fields Medal and the Abel prize. He was president of the Royal Society (1990-1995) and president of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (2005-2008).
