Learned Society announces new Chief Executive
The Learned Society of Wales is pleased to announce that Martin Pollard has been appointed as its new Chief Executive, with effect from 1 July 2018.
Martin is currently Chief Executive of the Welsh Centre for International Affairs (WCIA) and since 2010 has led the charity through an unprecedented period of strategic development and growth. This has included establishing the Wales for Peace and Hub Cymru Africa programmes, as well as coordinating the WCIA’s schools work and public events. He has significant experience in developing new projects and partnerships across the third sector, schools and higher education institutions.
Having initially qualified as a teacher, Martin has a strong educational background and has worked directly with thousands of teachers and learners. He is the Chair of the Wales Alliance for Global Education and a specialist in the Philosophy for Children method, and has represented the international sector at the Welsh Government’s Third Sector Partnership Council. His past roles include WCVA trustee, member of the Climate Change Commission for Wales, and chair of the Wales Africa Community Links grants panel.
